20th-22nd of October 2019., the 3rd Investment Forum of Health, Sports and Tourism was held at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb and successfully completed.
During the three days of the Investment Forum, a series of workshops, panels and lectures were held in front of a wide audience of foreign and domestic tourism workers, medics, investors, government officials from the Adriatic region, as well as experts in the field of health, sports, tourism and investing, and presented the innumerable potentials of Croatia but also the entire region as a year-round destination for health tourism.Forum program available by clicking on the link.
Dr.Prem Jagyasi, one of the world's foremost experts and promoters in health tourism, said at the outset: "I have been to 65 countries and have spoken at countless health tourism conferences, but this is the only one that combines health tourism with investment. And that is what makes it unique.

The response of the local dignitaries was no less impressive. Croatian Minister of Tourism Gary Cappelli and Croatian Minister of Health Milan Kujundžić delivered keynote speeches, and representatives of 16 foreign embassies and senior representatives of the countries of the Adriatic region attended the Forum. The Investment Forum was opened by the Deputy of Prime Minister Andrei Plenković Minister of Tourism Gary Cappelli.

There are two important things that set this conference apart from the rest are health tourism - focusing on investments and examples of best practices and experiences from other countries. Magdalena Rutkowska's presentation on the success of medical tourism projects in Poland through the use of EU funds has been particularly strong, as it is clear that Croatia can and must use its enormous potential in medical tourism using EU funds.
The city of Šibenik also took the opportunity to present its investment potential. Mayor Željko Burić presented the investment opportunities offered by his city, urban and proprietary sites, fully defined with clear facilities and capacities.

Some of the major names in Croatian medical tourism were also on the list of speakers, including Dr. Vlasta Brozicevic, industry pioneer from Tema Selce, and the conference organizer, Dr. Miljenko Bura. From this year, we have as one of the many partners - Sotheby's - the Global network for the purchase and sale of luxury real estate, and Marko Pazan's Director in Croatia participated with interesting experiences in one of the many panels.

Croatia's largest private healthcare system - Agram was presented by Director Tomislav Novacic, pointing to the current potential and development opportunities.
The forum also featured numerous concrete investment projects already ready for investment. We will especially highlight Jeff Blackard's project of almost 500 million euros - the Pasman Riviera on the island of Pasman which will transform the tourist offer in Croatia and give it a whole new dimension and direction for the further development of indigenous environments that provide original ambience and facilities for year-round use.
Presentation of the prepared projects is a specialty of this Investment Forum, which attracted potential investors from home and abroad. Several projects of new hospitals in Croatia and the region were presented, as well as health resorts that interested the present investors and led to the first discussions with the owners and developers of these projects.
It is important to emphasize the acceptance of health tourism as a common platform and direction for development by participants and officials from other countries in the region. The need to continue the initiative of joint appearance with the EU Commission is particularly emphasized in order to finance this particular economic activity in the next financial period (2021-27), both within cohesion funds and regional cooperation.
Last year, we opened the topic of sports at the Forum as part of the branding importance for Croatia, and this year we put "SPORT" in the very name of the 3rd Investment Forum with the intention of emphasizing the need for sports infrastructure as a basis for branding sport potential in various sports in which Croatia achieves above average results. Sports infrastructure, including human resources, is a strong basis for incorporating sports offerings into the overall year-round tourism offer.
In line with the above, the investment forum ended with the announcement via Skype of the legend of Croatian tennis Marin Čilić, who unfortunately could not join us this year due to business obligations, but announced his arrival next year and praised our initiative.
